On Friday, June 23, 2017, for one night only, the beautiful musical drama Ruth will be presented by acclaimed performing company Arcady at the Sanderson Centre for the Performing Arts. Ruth is a moving story of immigration and welcoming others into your land. The drama follows the life of Ruth, an independent, strong, and hopeful woman as she searches for a better life for herself and her people. The work was written in 1996 by Ronald Beckett to the words of Brantford librettist Roger Bayley. This special production will feature several talented emerging artists from around the world. The international cast will be supported by Arcady’s professional chorus, orchestra, and Academy of Ballet Classique. Tickets range from $30-$40 and are available through the Sanderson Centre box office by calling 1-800-265-0710 or online at

A free pre-concert chat called Ruth and the Modern World will take place on Monday, June 12, 7pm at St. Andrew's United Church (95 Darling St, Brantford) with Ruth scholar Enid Pottinger. This will also be an opportunity to meet the composer and some of the international cast.
